Water Source
The original source of Melbourne Made spring water is this unique catchment area located on an ancient volcano known as Black Hill and it’s from here, the quality and reputation of Melbourne Made Spring Water began.
A volcanic cone standing one hundred metres above the surrounding countryside was created. Not one, but two craters formed in the cone, like two gigantic cups rising above the land.
Rain falling on Black Hill, as it does in abundance, is captured in the cone and percolates down through the scoria until it strikes a dense lava plug in the throat of the volcano.
On the way, the fine scoria filters out any particles from the rainwater and adds minute concentrations of minerals. At this point the purified water moves laterally to emerge as springs on the lower slope of the cone. All this takes place well above the surrounding water table, so the water that springs from the heart of the volcano is pure, fresh and protected from any possible contamination.
As a way of creating water purified by nature, you couldn’t hope for a better design.

Packaging Sustainability
Packaging waste pollutes our air, water and soil. 1.9 million tonnes of packaging waste produces the same amount of greenhouse gas as 860,000 cars. The litter it creates also ends up in many places that it shouldn’t – blocking our storm water drains and causing serious problems for our wildlife.At Melbourne Made, we strive for a world without waste. We have a responsibility to help solve this important environmental issue. We have implemented 66% recycled plastic bottles, recyclable aluminium cans and glass bottles. Our goal is to work towards 100% recyclable packaging and we are on track to doing so. This goal plays a big part in of our vision of reducing waste in the world.
Water Sustainability
We are focussing our water efforts on the areas where we can have the greatest impact. These include improving water-use efficiency and reuse in our manufacturing plants; managing wastewater to avoid pollution; and providing water to communities in need. Clean, accessible water is vital to the health of people, communities and economies. While access to safe water continues to be a problem in certain regions, we believe there is enough fresh water in the world to meet growing demands. Our goal is to contribute to this change by donating water to developing countries that are in distress. We are also developing por table filtered cylinders that will allow communities in developing countries to filter and consume water from rivers, lakes and coastal areas in their region. These will be developed on a mass scale and distributed to critical regions.
Climate Sustainability
Climate change has seen a significant rise in global surface temperatures that have lead to subsequent changes in long-term weather patterns. It is caused by the increased release of carbon footprint, also known as, greenhouse gases (GHG) into the atmosphere. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by constantly evaluating and improving our operations. We are collaborating throughout our supply chain to reduce emissions related with producing our packaging, manufacturing and distributing our products. We also incorporate solar power in our manufacturing process and this plays an important part in reducing our carbon footprint. We are also working to mitigate any impacts climate change may have on our business. The goal to implement 100% recycled plastic bottles and recycled cardboard will also contribute significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our manufacturing process and packaging. We will continue monitoring and streamlining our processes to incorporate more sustainable practices.
